"You want me to shed more blood for you? Haven't I shed enough already? I didn't sign up to fly a souped-up shuttle into war!" you say, shoving the scanner away so you can walk past. "Your people promised me a bed and a meal. Payment upfront, or I fly right back out that door." You jab a finger at the shuttle behind you.
The man didn't seem the slightest bit perturbed. "It wasn't a request."
You don't see the source of the stunner blast, but once it hits you, all you can see is the ceiling plates above as your body hits the deck, no longer under your control. Every nerve in your body screams in pain, trying to curl up to get away from it, but you can't.
Something scratches your finger, adding an annoying sting to your list of hurts.
The scanner beeps.
"Just like I thought. Your DNA isn't in the database. That means you're Human. We don't take kindly to spies. Depressurise the shuttle bay. The vacuum will take out the trash."
You can feel the footsteps walking away from you before a door hisses open, then closed again. A grinding sound that you know is the iris opening seems to grow softer, though the vibrations through the deck don't change.
"Wait. Come back. I'll tell you anything you want to know!" you scream out with the last of your air before you're sucked out into space.
