The short answer? No, probably not. My books are based on classic fairytales, before the Brothers Grimm, with all the sex and violence and adult themes expected by an adult audience....BUT ending in a happily ever after. Think Game of Thrones, Sarah J Maas's A Court of Thorns and Roses, and Raven Kennedy's The Plated Prisoner series.
For millennia, fairytales have always been stories for adults, filled with romance, sex, violence and more than a little bit of danger. The Brothers Grimm had to rewrite their book of Household Tales three times before they produced something Victorian era nannies were willing to read to children...and it wasn't until Disney that fairytales were specifically censored for children. Oh, and given a happy ending, because many of the original tales did not end happily at all.
While many classic fairytales don't end happily, mine most certainly do...even if my characters have to go through hell to get there. Much like Sarah J Maas's A Court of Thorns and Roses, and Raven Kennedy's The Plated Prisoner series.
